MBSR
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8-week, 2.5 hours per week evidence-based, scientifically researched programme which was developed in 1979 by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at The University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Since then it helped thousands of people to reduce stress, build resilience, improve focus and concentration and make more skilful choices for better health and wellbeing. A growing body of research is showing the benefits of the programme for better management of chronic pain, medical symptoms and psychological distress.
During the weekly sessions, participants engage in various experiential practices, group discussions and awareness exercises, such as sitting and lying down meditations, mindful movement and mindful walking.
The course is primarily experiential and draws on the combination of the universal contemplative practices from the Buddhist tradition, on one hand, and The Western Medicine and Psychology on the other.
